Great spot with lots of friendly people making it happen.

Wonderful museum in a rural location. Open on weekends. Monthly fiddlers music and activities for kids.

The Sunday Fiddlers Jam is a great time for the entire family and you get some history to boot! If you enjoy an excellent jam session, then make time to visit for the afternoon!! The burgers and hot dogs were delicious and don’t forget to try the pie as well. Plenty to explore with some beautiful pieces of local history.

Great music once a month I would like to go back great for picnic lunch bottle of wine. Fun to watch the little kids with the mandolins and fiddles…. And the museum and artifacts are top-notch

As the collections manager and resident archaeologist at the Ely Museum, I can honestly say that the people who run the place will leave you with a real sense of what life was like in the mid to late 1800’s in a remote part of California’s back country. Visitors can learn about how a stage stop was run and about the highwaymen (Buck English and Black Bart) who frequently robbed those stages and their passengers.

Free events happen all the time, like the first Sunday fiddler’s jam. 10-15 bluegrass players entertain in the barn from noon till 2. Come, bring a picnic, and enjoy. Also hay rides, etc.
