Well it had been maybe a decade or more, and the interior seems to have been remodeled (where is the ancient bar?) but the vibes are still wooden ambiance, reminiscent of a British pub. The place was overrun with tourists on our visit, as is all of Pescadero, surely great for the local economy and the shops on the main drag through town. We tucked into a round nook near the door and settled in.
The menu still had the old stalwarts on it, and did not disappoint. The artichoke soup, the battered fries, hearty sandwiches, a gorgeous salad. The mussels are to die for, and the oysters were from BC on our visit, fresh and salty. All in all more selection than I recall, and appears all for the better.
Duartes is nothing without the town of Pescadero, so we did our obligatory walk through town. The cute shops, galleries, trinkets and farm stands, it’s all quite darling and affordable.
Glad to have finally rediscovered this spot, it’s too easy to zip by on highway 1 and never stop.

The best hidden gem! The pie is absolutely worth coming here for and I miss it everyday! The lemonade was so delicious and unique!

Holy moly. Delicious. Comfortable. Delicious. What a great place. Pulled over because I liked the looks and sound of it. We had great fresh food – calamari, red snapper, green chili. And olallieberry pie. But the ringer was old school, fresh baked sourdough.
We were very happy. Then we found out the place is famous. I can see why. Definitely worth the drive. Great service, great food!

Walked in around 1 pm for a table for 2 and waited 15 minutes. It’s a small restaurant. We just came in for a snack and ordered the half artichoke and half green chile soup $18.25 and a slice of ollalieberry pie $11. The soup was pretty good, we tried each part of the soup separately (it comes unmixed so you can taste each one separately if you spoon carefully) and also together, the combo really is the best. It’s a good soup, worth the price? Probably not, but at least it’s a decent portion and comes with fresh sourdough bread. The ollalieberry pie was decent. Personal preference, but it was a bit sour/tart. Big slice though and it’s packed with filling so at least you get value. Overall, I think it’s worth trying both of these must order items once, but probably not worth a revisit

I had the artichoke soup and it tasted mostly like green chiles and had a very gluey texture. The sourdough bread was good. The olloliberry pie filling was great, but the crust was terrible. I wonder if they warmed it in the microwave? Service was slow.
