It was clean and affordable. Breakfast was decent. Staff were fine. Parking lot was convenient. However, it is a little bit of a dated hotel and decor and ambiance is not something highly remarkable. We had no issues on our stay and we would come back.

Well, the beds were comfortable, so I’ll start with the positive.
Unfortunately, there were quite a few issues during our four-night stay. The TV service stopped working throughout the entire building on our second day and was still not working when we checked out four nights later.
The air conditioner has a continuous fan setting, but it shuts itself off after about five hours, which made it difficult to keep the room comfortable overnight. The toilet ran continuously unless messed with it for 5 minutes or so getting the handle in the perfect spot. There was also quite a bit of light, outside noise, and air coming in around the door, making the room feel less comfortable and private than it should.
The clock in the room wasn’t set to the correct time, and the refrigerator froze our items. The refrigerator was most likely just set too high, but it was still another inconvenience. The Wi-Fi was horrible and service for T-Mobile in this area is not the best in eureka. It’s good and in Blue Lake it is good but not in Arcata. I felt like it was 1995 with dial-up at the hotel itself. Nothing would load and it kept buffering.
None of these things individually would have ruined a stay, but when you put them all together—especially the TV being out for nearly the entire visit—it was disappointing. I normally make great reviews. I really feel like a lot of it’s first world problems, but at the same time when you pay for something you expect for it to at least be functional. The room and property could definitely use more attention to basic maintenance and guest comfort.
The comfortable beds were appreciated, but unfortunately, there were too many other issues for us to consider this a great stay.

Easy check-in with an online reservation. Quiet neighborhood with plenty of spaces in the attached parking lot. Nearby bus stop occupied by unhoused individuals. In terms of safety, it is gated but it seemed like the front gate was always open and the sliding doors into the inn were never locked even at midnight. A few carts are available at the front to move luggage. Staff are cordial.
The walls are thin. We would hear thumping late into the night, from other guests walking around on the second floor.
Cleanliness was fine for the most part. One of the pillows had brown specks, and one handtowel had an orange stain. A bit strange that they would only provide a single shower cap when the room was booked for two guests. Though they do replace the hand soap everyday.
Breakfast options – biscuits, eggs, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, bagels, mini waffles, juice, coffee, and tea. The biscuit, sausage, and somewhat cold scrambled eggs leaned on the salty side. Personally, I didn’t mind but that might not be ideal for all guests.
Amenities – pool, washing machines, expensive vending machines.

The hotel was wonderful location near what we wanted to see and visit.
The room had a odor, which we believe it was due to the carpets being freshly washed, but did not have sufficient time to dry.
Initial check-in was lacking general customer service skills but was redeemed by the night crew specifically Darrick. Definitely the best part of the visit at that location. If someone is reading this please ensure he gets his kudos for his level of friendliness and above and beyond customer service. He definitely made the visit worth it and reason for a higher star rating

We used this as a landing pad for our three days in the Redwood State and National forests. Its a bit of a hike from Arcata…about 40 minutes…but its an easy drive down highway 101. Trinidad is closer but there was just nothing else available. This location is suitable to the southern portion of the park though not the northern…its too far from Crescent City area. The hotel has a nice pool and a good size hot tub. The hot tub is missing some tiles and its sharp so be careful. So nice after a day of hiking though. The hotel offers continental breakfast as well. Plenty of fast food and fuel options around the hotel. There is a small fitness room as well. Room was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for a nice stay at the beach and forest. Lots of great beaches nearby!
