Beautiful place and lots of places to eat not mention near by hiking trails and MTB trails

One of our favorite places we went to on our trip. The journey long and slow down the mountain you go. Make sure your brakes don’t get overheated! Plenty of places to pull over for pics and to cool off your brakes if needed. You are rewarded with the most amazing experience. A few pics by the lighthouse and a little baby hike down to the beach and you will marvel at everything you will see. Sea lions, pelicans, crabs, anemone all against a breathtaking backdrop.

Great little spot to catch some lighthouse history. Sadly it wasn’t opened when we visited, but it was still fun to see. Checkout the trail to the coast just beyond the lighthouse. There are picnic tables and a nearby bathroom. Pack your own lunch or visit the nearby deli a short walk up the hill.

I drove from the Humboldt Redwoods to visit the Cape
Mendocino Lighthouse at
Shelter Cove.
The small historic lighthouse
was moved from its original location in 1998 to Shelter
Cove and restored in order
to preserve it.
A trail from the lighthouse
takes you to tidepools, and
a rocky beach with crashing
waves with a number of
offshore islands.
The rugged Kings Range and
the Lost Coast Trail are
located in the area for
adventure seekers.
The lighthouse is located at
Mel Coombs Park with picnic
tables, BBQ pit, and pit toilets.
The lighthouse is open from
Memorial Day to Labor Day.
A nice day trip from the Redwoods to stop and visit
a historic lighthouse located
on the isolated Lost Coast.
