Cafe Kazka is such a lovely surprise and hidden gem in Foster City! This was my first visit, and I honestly wasn’t expecting to find such a legit Hong Kong-style cafe in the area. The menu has the feel of a classic cha chaan teng, but with a modern cafe vibe—you can stop in for drinks and snacks or enjoy a full meal.
Atmosphere: The owners did a fantastic job with the space. There are so many thoughtful touches of Hong Kong nostalgia, and even the menu is beautifully designed with adorable illustrations and helpful graphics. One of the biggest highlights is the location. Being right next to the water creates such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Whether you choose to sit indoors or outside, it feels welcoming and casual while still serving genuinely satisfying entrees.
Food: The menu offers a great balance of Hong Kong classics like French toast and siu mai alongside creative fusion dishes, such as their well-known Tom Yum pasta. For drinks, you’ll find staples like Hong Kong lemon tea, HK milk tea, and yuenyeung (coffee + milk tea), along with plenty of refreshing fruit-based options. Everything we ordered was flavorful and tasted authentic—we genuinely enjoyed every dish.
Service: This is primarily a self-serve cafe where you order at a kiosk, but the hospitality still stands out. You can tell the owner is incredibly hardworking and passionate. During our visit, he was taking care of customers, making drinks, and checking in on everyone to make sure they were enjoying their meal.
Bonus: I also have to give a special shoutout to the owner (I didn’t catch his name). I accidentally left a personal item behind, and when I returned, I didn’t even have to explain why I was there—he immediately recognized me and handed it back. I really appreciated that level of attentiveness and care.
Thank you, Cafe Kazka, for such a wonderful first experience. We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu, and next time I’ll be bringing my Hong Kong husband along too! ☺️
Foster City is a pretty spot along the SF peninsula. Cafe Kazka is a nice edition to this area. Although I didn’t get to try much of the food, what I did try was very very nice. Perfect for a Saturday morning in Foster City.
The tomyum pasta was really good even tho I’m usually not a big fan of tomyum since the spice can be quite strong. I loved it and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. The Hong Kong style French toast was amazing as well. We chose the coconut spread in the middle, which turned out to be a great choice! The toast was fluffy and eggy and it paired perfectly with the condensed milk.
The milk tea was also solid and the matcha coconut strawberry slushy was good. The strawberry tasted fresh and made with real ingredients. The space is small but I liked how quickly the food came out. It does seem like it could get busy on weekends so try to avoid busy time
Killer cafe on the water serving HK bites. Their HK milk tea is on the less sweet side compared to milk tea shops, the 75% is great. Excellent service and location with indoor and al fresco tables.
