I wish all women had access to the level of care that Bloom and all of the midwives and staff provide, because it truly goes above and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced in healthcare and otherwise. From the moment you walk through the doors, you feel the kindness, calm, support, education, and genuine care for the wellbeing of the mother, baby, and entire family.
The birth classes, lactation support, postpartum care, home visits, and prenatal support were all incredible, but honestly what Bloom provides goes far beyond just services. I truly believe I’ve had such successful breastfeeding journeys with all three of my children because of their genuine investment in my wellbeing and success as a mother.
I also truly believe I was able to have three healthy unmedicated vaginal births because of the expertise, guidance, and support I received at Bloom. My labors were intense and came with challenges, but the midwives guided me with such calm, skill, knowledge, and encouragement every step of the way. During my first birth, my sister, who is a physician, was present, and afterward we both agreed the care and decisions Heidi provided in difficult (and scary) moments were professional, grounded, and medically responsible while still deeply supportive and respectful of me as a mother.
Heidi carries this rare balance of confidence, wisdom, authority, and the ability to deeply listen without making it about herself. That is not ego. That is grounded leadership and true service.
Honestly, I have never experienced this level of invested interest in my wellbeing from any other medical establishment. Bloom cares deeply about the health and happiness of the mother, baby, father, and siblings too.
If you are considering Bloom, I can honestly say it was one of the best investments I’ve ever made (3x!). Birth stays with you for the rest of your life, and being supported by women who genuinely care this deeply is truly one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and your family. I could not recommend Bloom enough.
Bloom birth center is great, unless you have a real medical issue. I put full faith in Heidi. I told her I had a tendency to hemorrhage. She assured she would send me to the hospital before I bled out. She did not. It may be her ego but she thought she was making the good call in giving me fluids as I almost bled to death. It was a terrible recovery and a miracle I survived. After giving so much faith in her it has taken alot of mental and physical healing to recover from bleeding out and realizing I put my life in her hands and should not have. Do not trust her with your life. Have someone in the room that will actually take care of you and make a life saving call if you need it. I had older children. My three children almost lost me because of her negligence.
Their response is just to protect them. My second midwife Constance quit right after my experience because she kept telling Heidi I needed to go to the hospital. You almost killed me Heidi! You need to do some inner work on your ego.
This is a long over-due review as it’s been a little over a year since my daughter’s arrival. My heart is full of gratitude when I think about the exceptional care I received from Bloom throughout my prenatal, birth, and postpartum journey. The Midwives are simply incredible. Their consistent support, love, and nurturing was exactly what I needed at this time. I always felt validated, protected, and truly cared for within their space – an experience I’m sure resonates with many women. Bloom’s Midwives empower you, providing the essential tools and skills to approach parenthood with confidence. I feel so incredibly fortunate to have had my daughter at Bloom, a place that will forever hold a special place in my heart. So much love for you all! ❤️
I loved my experience at Bloom. My birth felt sacred, safe, and healthy, and I would recommend to anyone who wants a natural birth, to work with this amazing team of midwives! Their postpartum care is also fantastic, and they support you fully right until the end of your care.
Excellent price (of course depends on your insurance but for us it was more affordable than a hospital!)
Excellent communication
Excellent care
Excellent birth experience!
I am so grateful for this establishment! Thanks so much, from Annie, Eliott, and baby Billy.
To the pregnant and birthing people that would like to have an unmedicated birth: the care you will receiver at Bloom is beyond compare. If you are on the fence about it (or if COVID is making you rethink the hospital) take the leap of faith and you will not be disappointed.
We had our baby in December, the entire pregnancy was during the lockdown. Additionally, we are both Black/mixed race. For those of us that are POC the quality of care we receive can be impacted by the providers bias. I was stressed, scared and uncertain about having our baby in Mendocino county. Hospitals were only allowing one person, so no doula and no one could attend appointments with me. The prospect of going through the pregnancy and birth without the support I felt I needed was terrifying. Then we found Bloom.
The Care: All of the midwives made the extra effort to establish a personal relationship with both of us. They know US without looking at paperwork. I cannot stress enough how good it felt to be seen and heard in a medical setting. I have never had a provider put so much effort into informed consent, especially with physical touch. As first time parents it was very valuable for us have 1 hour visits, text/call/email availability, and open and honest communication. They even accommodated my husbands work schedule so they he could attend every appointment.
The Birth: We had a spectacular birth. Everyones birth will be different but here are the universal points. I had complete faith in the midwives. I knew that they genuinely cared about our well-being. I trusted their judgement and they trusted mine. I felt safe, comfortable and empowered. The ladies worked great together as a team. All of my birth wishes were accommodated. Getting to have the golden hour was something we will cherish forever.
Post-partum Care: The home visits are a gem. Not having to go out with a newborn and getting time to heal at home is a wonderful benefit. When I struggled with breastfeeding they were there to help and encourage me. When other issues arose they would call/text to check up on us and lend support.
The Cost: I got a hefty reimbursement from my insurance thanks to EarthSide Billing. It would have cost us more money to go through a hospital with copays, plus the cost of a doula, lactation consultant, etc. Let me be loud and clear about this: IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. Without insurance I would absolutely go to Bloom again and pay the full price. Going to Bloom for our pregnancy and birth was the greatest gift we could give our son to start his journey.
