Antojitos Chapines Food Truck is a great little spot in North San Jose for authentic Guatemalan and Mexican food at very reasonable prices. It has the casual feel of a neighborhood food truck, but the menu is surprisingly large and goes far beyond just tacos and burritos.

The pupusas are one of the highlights. They are freshly made, filling, and come with choices such as cheese, beans and cheese, chicharrón, loroco, and revueltas. The handmade tortillas also make a big difference, especially with the tacos and other grilled items. The fried tacos are another popular choice and go very well with the red and green salsas.

They also serve Guatemalan specialties such as garnachas, enchiladas, rellenitos, plátanos fritos, churrasco, chiles rellenos, and hearty combination plates. If you want something more familiar, there are also quesadillas, burritos, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas, lengua, and seafood dishes.

The drinks are worth trying too, especially the aguas frescas, horchata, tamarindo, and other refreshing fruit drinks. Portions are generous, and the prices are very fair for the amount of food you get.

What also stands out is the friendly service. The staff are welcoming and helpful, especially if it is your first time and you are not familiar with some of the Guatemalan dishes.

This is not a fancy place, but that is part of its charm. It is a good choice for a quick lunch, casual dinner, or whenever you want flavorful food without spending a lot of money. Definitely one of those small local places worth supporting in San Jose.

Veggie quesadillas are our all time favorite. Great flavorful taste, fresh veggies, very consistent quality.. have been cooking to this place for last 10 years now..

Great food! I tried the asada, chorizo, and lengua tacos—each one flavorful and well-cooked. The service was quick, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The food truck has a simple, welcoming vibe, perfect for a quick meal. I’ll definitely be back to try more items from their menu!
